Back in April, Micah Green and Scott Hamilton were lucky
enough to receive the opportunity to race in the Laguna Seca Invitational during
the Sea Otter Classic. This race came
from the history books of our very own sport and hasn’t been done since 1982. Hosted on the Laguna Seca Raceway, we ran down
the track backwards and drag raced four men deep. Only 32 racers were invited
which meant that if you advanced only a single round you were already in
quarter-finals. So it got pretty heated,
pretty fast when they started calling ‘Ready-Set-Go!’. Before we started skating though, and during
the practice runs everyone was playing it cool and simply hanging out with
their friends.

Brock Warren, Connor Wagner and Zac Baca also made the trip out west. We spent our nights camping on hardwood floors in an abandoned and powerless house on the 18th hole of the beautiful Pebble Beach Golf Course. We were very generously offered this location by Sean Woolery, who spectated the race as well.

The original four SL,UT Skaters. On the far left is Jake "Smash" Geerlings. He pushed the rest of us the harder and faster on skateboard from the very beginning than anyone has before. While we were all learning from scratch, Jake was immediately ripping down the hills of Salt Lake harder and faster than anyone else had done before. During our travels, Connor, Zac and I were lucky enough to see our old friend again, who is currently stationed in Berkley, California serving in the National Coast Guard.
Check out this RAW RUN of Micah, Brock and Zac skating the hills of NorCal with Byron Essert.
Thank you Miles and Byron Essert for giving us a place to stay, and showing us how it's done on and off a skateboard in Berkely California.
